At a special meeting of the Vinton City Council on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, Andy Lent, City Coordinator for the City of Vinton officially resigned his position as city coordinator. His final day will be Friday, September 6, 2013. Lent will be assuming the position of city administrator for the City of Carlisle, which is on the southeast side of the Des Moines metro area.

“My family and I are dealing with this very bittersweet change in our lives,” said Lent, “We are going to miss this city and its people very much, but look forward to our future in Carlisle.”

Lent began working for the City of Vinton on June 19, 2006. He assumed the duties of city coordinator two weeks later when former city coordinator, Don Martin, officially started his retirement. Lent’s tenure with the city has been marked by several different events and developments. Notable events are the 2008 Flood and the July 2011 Windstorm, while the opening of the new Cobblestone Inn and Suites and the building of the New Century/Farm Service regional service centers are two of the largest developments that took place during the past seven years.
