Grand Champion honors were awarded Thursday in the FFA Market and Carcass Lamb shows at the 2013 Iowa State Fair.

Jessica Marty of Luverne showed the Grand Champion FFA Market Lamb, and Chelsea Schminke of Van Horne took Reserve Grand Champion honors.

In the carcass judging, Tyler Leete of Elk Horn was awarded Grand Champion honors, and David Lillie of Marengo exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Carcass Lamb.

The judges saw 83 animals from 55 exhibitors of 38 chapters.

Marty's and Schminke's prize-winners, as well as 14 other livestock champions, will be auctioned in the prestigious Sale of Champions on Saturday, August 17, at 2 p.m. in the Penningroth Media Center of the Cattle Barn. The event is sponsored by the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement, a non-profit organization established to encourage the pursuit of agriculture-related careers by Iowa's youth.
