A handful of Ghostbusters (1984) and a pair of big beards from Duck Dynasty (2012) were among the pop culture costumes that children wore during the annual Vinton Parks and Recreation Halloween event.

Children began gathering at around 10 a.m. at the courthouse, where they played a variety of Halloween-themed games and decorated pumpkins while also enjoying cookies and hot chocolate.

Firefighters, fairies, witches, football players and many other costumes expressed children's favorite things.

At 10:45, it was time for the walking parade. The children went to several downtown stores for trick-or-treating, showing off their costumes and receiving candy.
