News : Mental Health /Disability Services Seeks Advisory Committee members

The Regional Governing Board of the Mental Health/ Disability Services of the East Central Region is seeking advisory committee members. Applications are being accepted Feb. 1-March 3, 2014. Applications are available online at www.linncounty.org or at Benton County Social Services, 303 1st Ave., Vinton IA 52349. Contact Carol Zander at czander@co.benton.ia.us, or call 319-472-4743. Completed applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on March 3. To be considered for the advisory committee, applicants must be individuals who use mental health and developmental disability services or are actively involved relatives of such individuals, service providers, or regional governing board members. The advisory committee appoints ex-officio, non-voting members to the regional governing board; makes recommendations to the regional governing board regarding administration of the regional disability services system and disability services; participates legislatively to advance the regional objectives; and fairly represents the views of their constituents. The Mental Health /Disability Services of the East Central Region was formed as part of the State of Iowa’s mental health reform. Member counties include Benton, Bremer, Buchanan, Delaware, Dubuque, Jones, Johnson, Iowa and Linn. The governing board will review applications and make its selections in April 2014.
