Over the past several years, our elementary specials team’s professional work has focused around character education and learning new ways to help each student be successful. Our team goal has been to engage students in thinking about their own talents, beliefs and the footprint they can leave on this earth.

We thought the best way to celebrate our learning and embrace our whole schools vision for a bully-free and character driven school would be through our first ever Vinton-Shellsburg Elementary FLASHMOB!

The 3rd-5th grade students at Shellsburg and Tilford Elementary learned the dance in gym class this month with Mrs. Albertson and Ms. McClintock. They have even snuck in practices before/after school with all specials teachers for the past week and a half! Today, all 3rd-5th grade students received their "What do YOU stand for?" flashmob shirt and we are all anxiously awaiting our chance to show off our dance moves and Viking pride!

The students were schedule perform at half-time of the varsity basketball game on Thursday, Feb. 20. But the weather forced the cancelation of that game, so the students will perform at an assembly on a date to be announced later.
