Led by the $255 raised by Kaity Lewis, the Tilford Elementary second, third and fourth grade classes raised a total of $3,804.50 for the American Heart Association. They did this by participating in the Jump Rope for Heart campaign in late March.

Tilford students normally do this every year, although last year they were too busy with the "John Counts" fund-raiser to participate, said PE teacher Mindy McClintock.

The top five fund-raising students were: Kaity Lewis, $255; Angela Ahrenstein, $175; Maggie Elwick, $157; Abby Elwick, $146; and Ian Allsup, $140.

Kaity received a small "duck" trophy and the top five also went home with a variety of prizes, including new jump ropes.
