News : 3rd grade Ag Day: Area students learn farm basics

Third grade students had a chance to pet goats and other livestock during the annual Ag Day.

Students from all of the Benton County school districts -- Vinton-Shellsburg, Benton Community and Belle Plaine, sent their third-grade students to the Benton County Fairgrounds on Wednesday for the annual 3rd Grade Ag Day.

Extension personnel, along with area FFA members from the three school districts, shared basic information about livestock, tractors, horses, and what products farmers product.

All the groups that helped make 3rd Grade Ag Day happen include: Benton County Farm Bureau, Benton County ISU Extension & Outreach, Belle Plaine, Benton Community & Vinton-Shellsburg FFA chapters , Benton County Pork Producers, Benton County Cattlemen, Benton County Dairy Producers, Benton County Corn Growers, Krominga Motors, Benton County Conservation, East Central REC, Benton County Volunteers (Vinton).
