When Lindsay Ward and her Oak 7 NCCC team wanted to hold a meeting to review their most recent project in North Dakota earlier this week, they went to a place that offered them enough space, peace and quiet and a beautiful scenery: The Bennett Fischer Pavilion along the Cedar River.
And Lindsay and her Oak 7 AmeriCorps members know better than anyone what a perfect place that pavilion.
That's because they built it.
On Tuesday, Aug. 3 — two days before Oak 7 members graduate from the AmeriCorps program — there will be a public celebration and dedication of the pavilion. Also on that is the dedication of the Community Youth Garden, which Oak 7 members also helped to create, working with the Benton County Extension and Vinton Parks and Recreation Department.
