The Guernsey Foundation has become the latest donor to the Old Creamery Nature Trail with the gift of $20,000 towards the trail’s re-surfacing project.
Matt Purdy, Executive Director of Benton County Conservation and Randy Scheel, chairman of the Old Creamery Nature Trail committee, recently accepted this generous donation from Soo Greiman, Executive Director of the Guernsey Foundation.
On January 14, 2014, the Old Creamery Nature Trail was awarded a Federal Recreational Trail’s Grant in the amount of $143,434 to re-surface the entire 15 miles of trail that runs between the communities of Vinton, Garrison, and Dysart. The entire cost of this project is $179,293. The trail committee and Benton County Conservation were tasked with raising 20% of this total amount ($35,859) in order to receive this grant. Since this challenge has been presented, the outpouring of support has been tremendous. Based on this gift from the Guernsey Foundation and many others, the goal is within sight.
If you would like to make a donation to this project, please contact Randy Scheel at (319) 477-3150 or Matt Purdy at (319) 472-3592.
