The Benton County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a single vehicles accident on Thursday, Dec. 18, at approximately 3 p.m.
According to the Benton County Sheriff's Office, Russell Ray Bos, 35 from Shellsburg, was driving northbound in the 6100 block of 32nd Ave., three miles north of Shellsburg when he lost control of his 2005 Chevy Avalanche. The vehicle went into the east ditch where it collided with several trees and ended up lodged between trees at the bottom of the ditch. The Shellsburg Fire Department and Shellsburg First Responders responded to the scene. The driver was transported by Lifeguard Helicopter of Cedar Rapids to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. The condition of the driver is unavailable from the hospital. The investigation is pending by the Benton County Sheriff's Office.
Bos's younger brother, Rory "Peaches" Bos, 26, died in a similar one-vehicle accident in that same stretch of 32nd Avenue in March of 2011.
