On January 31, 2015, the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter hosted its second ever Veterans Benefit Pancake Breakfast that last from 7 am to 11 am.

Vinton-Shellsburg FFA members, along with Vinton Kiwanis Club members, came to the school extra early to set up for the breakfast before community members came in to eat.

The breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage links, and pancakes, along with orange juice, milk, and coffee.

People were constantly entering the high school, where the breakfast was held, to eat the delicious food and to support our Veterans with a free will donation. In the end, the chapter raised around $1,300. All proceeds are going to the Benton County Veterans Assistance Program.

With the help of Cedar Valley Eggs, Fareway grocery, Fareway meats, the Vinton-Shellsburg cooks, Farmer’s Bank, Vinton Today, and of course Vinton Kiwanis members, FFA members, and community members, the breakfast wouldn’t have been possible.

These businesses and groups provided the chapter with food, supplies, and advertisement, along with help cooking the food. The Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter appreciates all the help that they provided and the support the community gave!

It was a great turn out, people from all around showing up to eat and support the Veterans! It all ran smoothly and we are hoping for even more community members to show up next year!
