Rylie Pflughaupt, the daughter of Jordan and Traci Pflughaupt, has been serving the Iowa dairy industry for the past year as the Alternate Iowa Dairy Princess .
Riley grew up north of Vinton where her family milks 70 cows and grows sorghum, rye, and hay. She is a past Benton County Dairy Princess and past Iowa Jersey Princess.
In August she was crowned as the Iowa Dairy Princess Alternate at the Iowa State Fair. The reign for the state princesses with end September 1.
"I have been traveling the state throughout the year attending numerous dairy events," she says. "Some of the highlights include county dairy banquets, the Central Plains Dairy Expo, and the Fuel Up to Play 60 summit at Jack Trice Stadium. It has been an honor to represent the hard-working dairy farmers of Iowa and to advocate for nutritious dairy products. June is dairy month and I am looking forward to the many events that come with the month devoted to dairy. It is wonderful to have a month dedicated to thanking the proud dairy farmers of Iowa."
Rylie handed out samples of cheese at Fareway on Saturday to help announce the arrival of June as Dairy Month. Look for her at area events, including Party in the Park, as she continues being an ambassador for Iowa's dairy farmers.
