News : Crane lifts new Palace AC units into place

The Edwards Plumbing Crew sets the new large AC units in place on the roof of the Palace Theatre.

Two new air conditioning unites arrived at Vinton's Palace Theatre today. The project involves Edwards Plumbing, Elwick Electric, Coonrod crane service of Cedar Rapids and McDowell's, said manager Marcy Horst.

The original units were installed when the Palace re-opened in 1998.

Funding for the new AC came from grants and donations. One more fund-raising letter will soon be sent to potential donors, said Horst.

The units were expected to be in operation time for the Tuesday night movie.
