After just three days of seeing students drive past her house on the gravel road north of Vinton-Shellsburg High School, Jessice Heggebo has already seen two of them go into the ditch.

Ron and Jessica Heggebo live at the corner of 61st Street and 26th Avenue. about two miles southeast of the school. On Monday afternoon, one teen driver lost control and entered the ditch. This morning, one the way to school, another student ended up upside-down in the ditch.

"The girl driving went to the hospital for minor injuries," says Heggebo.

The two accidents she has witnessed in the first three days of school inspired Heggebo to share the following message on the Vinton Today Facebook page:

"I want to warn all the teenagers that are driving to school. Today is your third day back and I have already witnessed two vehicles in the ditch due to crazy reckless driving on gravel. You need to slow down. These roads are very dangerous, especially after they are grated. Please for your safety and that of others, SLOW DOWN!!!!!"
