Virginia Gay’s Nursing and Rehab team has again achieved the highest quality marks from the U.S. News and World Report’s 2015 Health Rankings. For Overall Quality they again achieved a Five-Star ranking. Five stars were also achieved for Health Inspections and Quality Measures.
"We are very proud of Nurse Manager Jessica Henkle, RN and her staff of professionals for the outstanding care provided to our long term care residents," said Mike Riege, Virginia Gay Hospital CEO. "U.S. News and World Report has provided important information to our nations citizens on the selection of everything from the best colleges, best graduate schools, best hospitals and for the past 4 years the best nursing homes," Mike said, "and Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab has been listed as one of the best in Iowa and the nation in each of those years."
The Health Inspection ranking is based on how well the facility met standards for health and safety. The areas included in this measure food preparation and other nursing activities. The “Quality Measures” area of the ranking is based on scores for the number of patients receiving flu vaccinations and avoidance of common care-related problems. The “Overall Rating” includes a combination of measures from these areas and information about staffing.
Virginia Gay’s Nursing and Rehab facility consistently achieves outstanding quality measures from U.S. News, from the internal surveys of residents and their families conducted by the outside firm Pinnacle Healthcare Customer Surveys, and from rankings by Medicare.
