"We are so close," says VS Post Prom Committee member Sarah Wagner, of the fund-raising effort between Post-Prom members and the Iowa Hawkeye football game security team at Whelan Security.
The committee has made an agreement with Whelan Security, which provides ushers for each home Iowa football game.
If the Post-Prom Committee can find 15 volunteers for each of the seven home games, it will bring in $9,800; the committee's goal is $10,000.
The committee has found volunteers to fill 56 spots; there are 12 remaining over the last six home games of the season.
Volunteer ushers must arrive four hours before game time, wear black slacks and a white shirt, and sign a form agreeing to allow Whelan personnel do conduct a background check.
Many signed up during the Fall Blow-Out last month. There will be a sign-up table at this Friday's home football game, as well.
Wagner says the following spots are still open (it is too late to sign up for the Sept. 5, game, as there is not time for the security personnel to complete background checks):
September 19: Filled September 26: Filled October 10th: 4 openings October 31: 6 openings November 14: Filled November 21: 2 openings To volunteer, contact Wagner by email at sjwagner90@msn.com.
