News : Boomtown beats expectations; all records broken in 2015

It was another great year for the IPA and Boomtown, despite the rain on Friday.

After a quick summary meeting, your Boomtown committee was able to determine that records in all categories were broken this year! More cars were parked in the fairgrounds and more people were seated in the stands. More volunteers were present and more law enforcement aided with the traffic control.

While some were impatient and maybe even discourteous as the fairgrounds emptied, for the vast majority of the spectators, the traffic was a minor inconvenience in exchange for the show that they had just witnessed! Even Mother Nature held off with her thick fog until the Iowa Pyrotechnic Association had a chance to ‘blow us all away’ with their talents and skills. Popular opinion via Social Media and ‘word on the street’, this was the best Boomtown yet! As this event has evolved, so have the preparations by our audience. People are allowing for more time, packing clothes/gear for various weather and arriving early enough to secure their spot up front! Our guests are taking advantage of the lawn area and playing games with their families, having picnics and listening to the band. It’s caught on.

In the next few weeks, your Boomtown committee will be meeting with the IA Pyrotechnic Association to review and replay the events and memories of Boomtown 2015! Their work on your 2015 event is far from over yet.

Until then, continue to try to describe to people that weren’t in the stands, or near the fairgrounds, what they missed. You won’t be able to do it. You don’t/can’t know what you’ve been missing until you’re there. Ask any number of the first timers that made the switch from outside to inside this year! There were hundreds of them!
