The Vinton-Shellburg Post Prom fund-raising campaign continues throughout the Iowa Hawkeye football season.
Up to 15 VS representatives can serve as volunteer ushers for Iowa football games, and the Post-Prom Committee receives a donation for each volunteer. The effort has aready raised at least a few thousand dollars toward the annual Post-Prom event.
"We still need six volunteers for October 31," says Sarah Wagner of the Post-Prom Committee.
Kickoff for the game vs. Big 10 opponent Maryland is at 2:30 pm.; volunteers need to arrive four hours before game time. Volunteers are required to wear white T-shirts, black pants (no jeans) and black shoes.
This is only the second time the Hawkeyes have played Maryland, ever; and the first time for the Terrapins have played in Iowa City. Maryland won last year, 38-31.
"If there are previous volunteers that want to take those slots, they need to contact me ahead of time so Whelan Security can be notified. They would need to be at the Hawkeye Express parking lot by 9:15 in order to be at rec center by 10:30 a.m.," says Wagner.
Post-Prom Committee members will soon be sending letters to area businesses, seeking donations.
