News : 2016 Scholarships: Families of VSHS seniors encouraged to apply

VSHS staff met with members the senior class this afternoon to introduce the Local Scholarship program. Each student was provided with a booklet explaining how to access the program and apply for local scholarships. All local scholarship applications are DUE April 1, 2016. We announced the program today to give the students time to start the application process, writing essays, securing recommendation letters, etc. However, we have instructed them to wait until after Trimester 2 grades are final (week of March 7) to request transcripts. They were given the procedure for requesting and picking up transcripts.

Please encourage your child to take this program seriously and invest the time necessary to apply for these scholarships. Our local communities have been very generous in making scholarship opportunities available to our seniors and they often voice their frustration at the small number of applications they receive.

Also, be sure to continue checking the Scholarship link on our website for the many other scholarships available. New scholarships are added on a regular basis.
