The ACT 1 cast and crew of "Rex's Exes" are preparing to open their sequel to "Red Velvet Cake Wars" this Thursday night on the Palace stage.
Many of the performers return to play their same roles in the sequel, which focuses on the bizarre characters of the Verdeen family and their latest shenanigans.
In "Rex's Exes," Peaches (played by Mandy Barker) continues to be haunted by Rex's memory, and eventually learns why Rex disappeared, and also finds out more troubling things about his past. Jimmie Wyvette Verdeen (Allison Watkins) is busy working to open her new wedding boutique, called "Wide Brides." The First Lady of Texas is expected for a visit, and the Verdeen family foils continue.
This deliriously funny Southern-fried farce finds the Verdeen cousins of Sweetgum, Texas—Gaynelle, Peaches and Jimmie Wyvette—teetering on the brink of disaster again. Gaynelle, frustrated and frazzled from working too many two-bit jobs, stubbornly refuses to face the fact she's turning the Big 5-0. In a misguided effort to lift her cousin's spirits, Peaches, a sassy, morturarial cosmetologist who's stuck in a romantic dry gulch, is determined to throw Gaynelle a surprise birthday party she doesn't even want. And that's just the beginning...
