On February 23rd, 2016 the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter had the opportunity to set up their own booth at the 8th Grade Orientation Night at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School.
To recruit members, the chapter brought in a bearded dragon, chickens, and a rabbit to grab the attention of 8th graders and then as the students came up to pet the animals, they also had the opportunity to learn more about agricultural classes and the National FFA Organization.
The night started at 7 pm and ended at around 9 pm for FFA members, with cleaning the gym of all the tables and chairs that were used during the night. It was a pretty good night, making the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA members see the potential of the chapter for the coming school year as they met knew students who can do great things for the chapter and themselves when they become involved in the FFA.
