News : VFD serves more tha 600 at Fish Fry

Hayden Henkle was one of many VFD children to help at the Fish Fry on Friday.

Vinton Fire Department volunteers counted 660 people who came in for the fish fry on Friday. Many families lined up for fish and fries cooked by firefighters and volunteers, and desserts made by firefighters' wives -- although several children enjoyed their desserts first.

The event helped to raise money to cover the cost of a water rescue boat and a grain rescue tube, both of which were on display during the event.

Children of firemen, from college student Karley Kenney to the younger ones who still attend school at Tilford, helped with serving and clearing tables.
