On June 26, 2016 Bethlehem Lutheran Church presented a gift of $103 to the Vinton Feeds the World, food packaging event.
On September 11th, in conjunction with Outreach, Inc., Bethlehem Lutheran Church will be having a food packaging event at the Vinton Skate Center at 1pm. During this event, we hope to package 50,000 meals to be distributed locally and internationally. Each meal costs .275. At least 1/2 of the meals packaged will be kept in Benton County, Iowa.
According to Feeding America's 2014 Hunger in America Study, 40% of clients receiving food distributed by our local HACAP Food Bank in Hiawatha are Veterans and their families. This is the highest percentage of any food bank in the nation and it is double the national average.
350 people are needed to make this event a success. Join us. It only takes an hour to make a difference.
