Ervin Motor Co. has donated an AED (automated external defibrillator) training system to Vinton Shellsburg Community School District as part of a National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation Program.
The Little Anne AED Training System was given to Vinton Shellsburg Community School District District Nurse Kris Hallberg by Ervin Motor Co. Dealer Principal Keith Ervin and General Sales Manager Bill Ervin during a presentation at the dealership.
Hallberg told the Ervins that the unit will help her instruct both staff and students, especially seniors, in how to properly use life-saving AED devices after someone experiences a heart attack or other cardiac event. Each building in the Vinton-Shellsburg district is equipped with at least one AED and one portable AED for use at football games and other outdoor activities.
The National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation works with new car dealers throughout the country to donate CPR training mannequins to hospitals, police and fire departments, and schools. Since the program began in 1975, more than 4,600 mannequins have been donated and more than 2 million people have been trained on mannequins donated through the program. The NADA Foundation, established in 1975, is the philanthropic arm of the National Automobile Dealers Association. Funds contributed by new-car and -truck dealers and friends of the industry provide financial support to schools, private colleges and universities, emergency disaster relief and other community service programs.
