News : Thursday evening VS football dinner tradition: parents take turns cooking meal

The VS football players and coaches shared their Thursday meal this week at Blessed Hope Church.

Players enjoyed marinated pork loin and all the trimmings, cooked by Kris Hallberg.

The team eats together each Thursday evening during the football season.

All coaches and players gather for the team meal each Thursday.

V-S football players continue the Thursday team dinner tradition this year.

One of the team-building experiences for both the players, and families, of the Vinton-Shellsburg football program is the Thursday evening meal.

Football parents take turns preparing and serving the meal, which often takes place at the school or other area meeting places. On Thursday evening, the Walston, Hallbergs and McAtee parents helped with the meal, which was served in the fellowship area of Blessed Hope Church.

The parents also prepare sack lunches for the players when they travel to other cities for away games. This week's game takes place in Anamosa.
