If you live or work in Vinton, chances are you will be receiving a call from a neighbor, friend or colleague today.

Fifty area residents and business people have volunteered to be "prisoners" for the annual MDA lock-up. They have been sentenced to an hour at Pizza Ranch, where they make phone calls soliticiting donations.

The event continues until 2 p.m. today. MDA representatives Amy McKelvy and Maggie Erdmann are handing out the information the participants need and taking photos of each in the MDA "jail." They said the goal is to raise $11,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which goes toward support of families of muscular diseases as well as medical research.
