On November 7th a group of FFA members went to the new Vinbana Dairy facilities to learn about milk production and the processes the cows go through. First we watched cows get milked with the machines and workers had to clean the cows teats before they could start milking. We got to see where the milk is stored in 2 large tanks until it is ready to be picked up. We went to a barn were cows that were sick and/or treated went to be separated from the milking cows and those cows had a certain color tag on their leg and they didn't get to be milked until they were cleared. The last place we went was the calf barn and we saw a milking machine where calves got scanned to see if they had had milk yet or not, and if they hadn't been fed yet then the machine would make them milk. Once we learned about them we got to pet them. Our chapter was very thankful for the opportunity to see the process of making milk and the new facilities at Vinbana Dairy.
