Even when she was terminally ill, Barb Becker Guillory thought of others. She was concerned about other patients, as well as the nurses who cared for her during her sickness.
After her death, Barb’s widower, Glenn wanted to share with others in the way that Barb would have.
Guillory presented the hospital a donation that will pay for a device to make it easier and safer for nurses to move immobile patients at the hospital. He presented the donation to the hospital on Saturday, Nov 6.
Accepting the donation were Mike Timmermans, the VGH Foundation Director, along with VGH Administrator Mike Riege, foundation Chairman Don Eells and Hospital Board John Yundt, and Assistant Director of Nursing Denise Evans.
Lead in break-in during Barb’s service
Guillory also said that Benton County Sheriff’s Office officials have told him that they may have a lead in the break-in that took place at his house during Barb’s memorial service. He said Linn County deputies arrested a man breaking into a house in Marion, and believe he may be the same man who stole from Guillory’s home.
“I just wish I could talk to him so he could tell me where he pawned the stuff. I’d even buy it back if I had to,” he said.
