Jon Kremer and Dana Eldred, right, of the Vinton U.S. Bank branch office presented a check for $5,000 from the U.S. Bank Foundation to Barb Rawson of the Eastern Iowa Junior Achievement organization Monday morning at the bank.

"The Vinton community has been wonderful," said Rawson.

The Junior Achievement program works with schools to bring in volunteer educators from a variety of fields. The program, she said, also helps schools meet their Iowa Core Curriculum goals and requirements during this time of tight school budgets.

Rawson shared the following statistics about the Benton County Junior Achievement program:

• Over 1500 students will participate in Junior Achievement classes in Benton County during the 2010-2011 school year.

• There are over 60 volunteers who help teach the Junior Achievement classes in Benton County.

•The Junior Achievement website is www.JAEasterniowa.org

•If people are interested in volunteering to teach Junior Achievement they may contact Barb Rawson at 319-540-5694 orbrawson@jaeasterniowa.org
