For years, the Ron-Da-Voo has been a place for motorcycle riders to gather for fun, friendship and occasionally, benefit rides such as the Special Olympics Ride Rick and Yvonne Zimpfer, who are member of A.B.A.T.E. (American Bikers Aimed Toward Education), have "graciously welcomed riders for years," says Susan Roberts, who along with Rick Lazenby, is organizing a Cards of Love for Yvonne effort to show support to Yvonne Zimpfer, who fought cancer seven years ago, but recently received a new diagnosis, this time with metastatic breast cancer. Roberts invites area motorcyclists to gather on Oct. 27, and to bring cards for Yvonne. The group will meet at Mickey's Bar at noon, ride to the Ron Da Voo at 1 and proceed to the Zimpfer residence at 3 pm. on Saturday, Oct. 27. "Let's come together and show them they are not alone in this battle," Roberts wrote on the Cards of Love For Yvonne Facebook page. "Bring a card and join us in showing we are there in solidarity and support for her through this next battle." The riders will gather at the Ron Da Voo for a photo, says Roberts. Damien and Jess Fairbanks (the owners of American Honey Custom Creations) will put the photo on a 3ft X 2ft canvas as they wait for the Pink Heals truck to escort us to the Zimpfer residence to deliver the cards. Organizers say other vehicles (cars, trucks, etc.) are welcome; they just hope many people will join in this show of love and support to Rick and Yvonne. Bake sale Oct. 31 Four days later, on Oct. 31, there will be a bake sale next door to the Ron Da Voo, in the former McClure financial building. The sale starts at 10 a.m. and will continue until all items have been sold. Along with bake sale items, there will be the sale of t-shirts honoring Yvonne, and other items, as well as a raffle for gift baskets. The bake sale will be by free will donation See the Cards of Love for Yvonne Facebook page HERE and the bake sale Facebook page HERE
