Jim Huber describes himself as a "scientist turned poet."
He wrote his first poem while still in high school; now his collection includes nearly 3,000.
Huber writes about history, farming and faith. He shares a poem most Sundays at Prairie Creek Christian Church. He has written poems for community milestones, such as the 75th anniversary of Farmers Savings Bank in Vinton.
"I write poems anywhere and anytime, however, I write a lot of poems in my rabbit barn while feeding my bunnies," he says.
Now, Huber is offering some of his poems -- attractively framed -- at Clingman's Pharmacy in VInton. One of Huber's favorites, "Life's Precious Minutes," is among those on display there. Another favorite, "A Book of No Value," about a ragged old Bible and the man who left it behind when he died, is also available.
Huber's poems can be seen during Clingman business hours. For more information, contact the poet via email at jhuber@fmtcs.com.
