This week we lost a member of Benton County.
Tamie Matheny, a NRP (Nationally Registered Paramedic with a Critical Care Endorsement) who worked over 10 years with the Van Horne First Responders, was lost in an accident this past week.
As soon as word was out, the community began to rally around her family.
One of her friends said of her, "Tamie’s first and foremost priority was as a mother. She wanted nothing more than to be the best mother she could be. Her success as a person was put on this. Her second passion was split as a medic and a friend. Serving her community and friends one in the same. She made acquaintances where ever she went and people were drawn to her, even at 3:00 a.m. in Wal-Mart, which made her a god send in the back of an ambulance in any situation. She could put people at ease in the most dire of situations. She was amazing at being a medic and friend."
There has been a memorial established for her family at the Chelsea Savings Bank. Simply note that it is for the "Kettler Erger Memorial Fund" The bank is located at: 100 1st Street Van Horne, IA 52346.
A Meal Train has also been set up to prepare and bring meals to the family. If you'd like to help in that way, simply click here to sign up!
