Three students from the Vinton-Shellsburg High School Band were selected to participate in the Northeast Iowa Bandmasters' Association Honor Band Festival on Saturday, December 4, 2010. These students performed in one of two 128 piece, select ensembles made up of instrumentalists from sixty schools in Northeast Iowa.

The students rehearsed all day on Saturday and presented a concert at the Oelwein High School Gymnasium. The two bands were under the direction of Liz Jackson, Director of Bands at Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and Leon Kuehner, retired director of bands from Hampton-Dumont High School.

The following students from the Vinton-Shellsburg High School Band were selected for this honor: Megan Jorgensen (trumpet), Nick Gardner (tenor saxophone), and James Yenser (trombone).
