The Alpha Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma serving Tama and Benton counties ended their year with many successful projects and is looking forward to 2011.

November saw the annual Alpha Psi Tea at the Iowa Juvenile Home (IJH) in Toledo. The tea has been an opportunity for members to mentor young ladies at the IJH by providing programs, activities and financial support for the residential facility.

Once again in 2010, three young ladies from Americorps NCC in Vinton joined Alpha Psi members at  the tea and presented information and shared their experiences with the volunteer organization.  Following the program and refreshments, members and guests shared a journal-making activity.

In December, Alpha Psi members donated paperback books to local Tama and Benton toy drives as part of their Literacy Grant.

The year ahead will include an exciting fundraiser. Members will raffle a P. Buckley Moss print and autographed children’s book to benefit the Iowa Juvenile Home.

Look for raffle sales information in newspapers and at selected community events.
