News : Wall Dogs are in Vinton Painting Murals

This is one of the murals being painted on the side of the McDowell building.

Vinton is hosting the Walldogs to paint new murals as well as to update some of the old murals that are on walls in the downtown areas.

Painters are here from as far away as Oregon, Georgia, Nevada, Illinois, Indiana...and those are just the places that I can remember. Some of the folks here were here the first time these were done and remember which ones they worked on.

One of the comments were "This is such a nice little town, I can see why people live here."

Some of the new murals include one that salutes the 150 years of history including the braille school. The murals should be done by

You can see the artwork in progress on the side of Tharp Design, Clingman Pharmacy, Cedar River Inc,, McDowell's, Cooling, or on the east side of the courthouse.

There will be a mural wrap up celebration at 5:30 p.m. at the Vinton Country Club. An auction will be held at 6:30 p.m. The country club is located at 314 N. 9th Ave. Visit with the artists who designed and painted the latest murals. A cash bar will be available.
