On Saturday, along with all of the celebrating that was going on in town, a small crew took a trip down the Cedar River to clean up garbage. Beginning at 8:00 a.m. a crew of 15 people from as far away as Iowa City and Muscatine joined forces wish local folks from Brandon, Dysart and surrounding areas. The crew cleaned a section of the Cedar River beginning at Minne Estema Park and ending at Vinton's Boat Ramp. 

The crew finished the job at 5:00 p.m. hauling in a culvert that took two canoes to haul back as well as six tires, a tent, a pair of flipflops and a vodka bottle before leaving the shore, a storm door and television and all kind of other debris,
