In addition to the new and familiar faces that ACT 1 lovers will see on the Palace stage when “Picnic” opens March 11, there will be many familiar names and faces working behind the scenes to make the show a success.
“Picnic” is a drama written by William Inge that can be humorous as well as intense. It focuses on the relationships between the characters, making the acting challenging because there are things that need to be portrayed to the audience but not to the other characters.
The behind-the-scenes participants include:
Assistant Director: Allison Watkins
Sound Design & Sound Board: David Canaday
Set Design and Construction: Allan Merchant
Light Design: Casey Cooling
Costume Design and Construction: Gen Mealhouse
Promotions Director: Katie Hancock
Light Operator: Bill Hawk
Production Artists: Karla Isbell and Amy Sharar
Properties Master: David Gates
Many of these people have previously been on the stage of ACT 1 productions. And Sharar and Isbell are well-known in the Vinton area for their artistic creativity.
Bopp was excited to see familiar faces auditioning along with many new ones looking to begin their ACT I career. Caroline Dick (Flo Owens), Kyle Webb (Hal Carter), and Mandy Peterson (Madge Owens) are all very excited to be participating in their first shows with ACT I. Many ACT I veterans will be assuming roles such as Helen Potts (Sue Gates), Millie Owens (Katie Hancock), Bomber (Trent McAtee), Roesmary Sydney (Cathi Calderwood), Alan Seymour (Jeffery Seitz), Irma Kronkite (Bunny Fritch), Christine Schoenwalder (Rachel Kramer) and Howard Bevans (Rich Hainstock). Bopp is also pleased to have a crew already put together.
The show will be staged March 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20, at the Palace. Look for more information as the opening nears!
