These VSHS band members will play with the UNI Honor Band.
Vinton-Shellsburg High School Band Department students have been selected by UNI for this year’s Northern Festival of Bands.
The following students have been selected for participation: Emma Lippmann (oboe), Kayla Peterson (clarinet), Claire Andreesen (alto saxophone), Nick Gardner (tenor saxophone), James Yenser (trombone), Megan Jorgensen (trumpet), Aaron Burkey (trombone), and Kosy Brown (clarinet).
The band students will participate with top band students from across the state of Iowa. Mr. Jim Miller, director of bands at Cedar Rapids Washington High School, will be conducting and rehearsing the 9-10 Band, and Dr. James Tapia, director of the Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra, will conduct and rehearse the 11-12 Band.
The concert for the event will occur on Saturday, February 12 at the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center at 2 P.M. Admission will be charged.
