News : Mark Mossman: National Hospital Trustee of the Year

Virginia Gay Hospital & Clinics is pleased to announce that Mark Mossman, Board Chairman of Virginia Gay Hospital & Clinics has been selected by Modern Healthcare as Trustee of the Year for small hospitals. Modern Healthcare is recognized by healthcare administrators and providers as one of the leading national publications for healthcare related news and information.

Out of 5795 hospitals nationally, Mr. Mossman was one of four Trustee nominees selected for the Trustee of the Year awards program, co-sponsored by executive search firm Witt/Kieffer, based in Oak Brook, Ill. Nominations were accepted from Oct. 4-Dec. 17. The categories were expanded, and some of the criteria changed compared with previous years.

Mr. Mossman is being honored for his role in leading the debate to move forward with a multimillion dollar fundraising campaign for the recently completed renovation of this 25 bed critical access hospital. Because of his leadership, the community raised $2.2 million toward the $8.4 million renovation.

He also has been recognized for being instrumental in his work to keep the administration, medical staff and board aligned throughout some of Virginia Gay Hospital & Clinics most critical decisions over the past 17 years. Because of his many skills, Mark Mossman has helped direct Virginia Gay Hospital & Clinics to become a recognized leader in delivering high quality healthcare to this rural community.
