I'm sure many of us remember the time that we got to ride on the fire truck as a child. That was the highlight of our little lives up until that point. It was also for the Vinton-Shellburg Elementary students on Thursday. The first round of fire trucks to take off included five trucks one of which was the Pink Heals pink fire truck.

Altogether the department gave around a dozen truck rides to the kids. The volunteer department arranged to be away from their jobs to come out to the school, yet another day this week and provide students with a fun to wrap up to Fire Prevention Week.

The sirens across town sounded tonight at 7:00 p.m. for families to participate in Operation E.D.I.T.H. as well, and the fire department went out again.

Please remember to come out on Sunday, October 10th from 7 to 12:30 p.m.

$6 per person at the door (no advance tickets).

Join the firemen at the Fire Station for a breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, biscuits n' gravy after celebrating Fire Prevention Week 2021.

Tickets are $6/person available at the door; preschool and under are free.

Proceeds will be utilized to replace the department's MSA Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) packs and bottles to remain within NFPA Standards.

Come hungry!
