The Vinton-Shellsburg 7th and 8th grade Vocal Music Concert included several favorites from musicals from several decades Thursday night at the VSHS auditorium.

Vocal music teacher Lois Martin and choreographer Joan Cooling Noeller worked with the seventh and eighth grade boys and girls choir members on a variety of songs.

The seventh graders performed several songs from "Annie, Get Your Gun." The girls performed songs from "Hair Spray."

Eighth grade girls sang songs from "Next to Normal," "Little Women," "Phantom of the Opera," and "Billy Elliott."

Eighth-grader Katie Hancock sang "Lamest Place in the World," a repeat of her solo performance during the Iowa premier of "13" last year.

Several of the performances included solos, duos and small ensembles singing some of the verses.

High school students Will Hancock and Willow Huber also performed musical numbers, from their recent Musical Theatre entries in the state speech contest. Willow sang "Just you Wait, Henry Higgins," from "My Fair Lady." Will performed "I'm Not That Smart" from the "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee."

The seventh and eighth grade show choir ended the show with songs from "Hair," wearing unique wigs and tie-dyed t-shirts.
