Vinton-Shellsburg High School students Kelsey Mahood and Rylie Pflughaupt organized a "Just Dance" event using the Wii last Friday at the high school auditorium. The event raised money for the Hill family of Garrison. Jim and Sue Hill both have cancer; their daughter, Felicia, is a student at VSHS. Participants are asked to bring a donation for the Hill family. Everyone is welcome to participate or watch.
VSHS students saw a preview of this event during an assembly at the high school at the end of the day. Mr. Farley and Mr. Knutson particpated in a dance-off while the students cheered. Participants had a chance to win Wii games or Just Dance t-shirts.
Felicia said she was thankful for the effort of Kelsey and Rylie. "It helps a lot," she said.
VS golf coach Janet Woodhouse has observed Kelsey on and off the golf course for years. "Her leadership, commitment and volunteerism is awesome," said Woodhouse.
For their efforts, Kelsey and Rylie were named Vikes of the Week during the assembly on Friday. Student Liz Moen announced the honor and praised them for the way they help others.
