News : Bradley Bergan selected for All-State Speech contest

Bradley Bergen will compete in spontaneous speaking at All-State speech event.

"What countries should America fear most?"

Bradley Bergan had three minutes to think about this question, and three to five minutes to answer it.

"I said that we should not fear anyone," Bergan said. "We should be talking to every country, and their are some that we need to pay extra attention to."

Bergan made those remarks while competing in the Spontaneous Speaking category of the Iowa High School Speech Association’s State Individual Events Contest held in Vinton on March 12. The judges of that event nominated Bergan for the All-State event.

Speech coach Eric Upmeyer announced the selection during a school assembly Friday He said only a handful of other Iowa speech students were selected for the All-State festival in that event.

Bergan will answer another question during the All-State event at UNI next Monday, March 28.
