ACT I of Benton County is pleased to announce that it will offer a Directors’ Workshop this summer for those interested in directing future productions as well as those simply interested in better understanding the directing process. The workshop will consist of approximately 16 hours of class time in which participants will learn the fundamentals of blocking, character development, production concept, casting, production planning, design, technical elements, and organizing a production for performance, and complete class projects on various topics. Following the class sessions, each participant will direct a one act play or scene from a full-length play for public performance.
The class is open to any interested adults or high school students, from beginners to experienced directors, regardless of the level of experience. Class dates will be set after registration closes in order to accommodate the schedules of the participants. Cost of the workshop is $40, to cover the cost of materials and production expenses.
The workshop will be taught by Steve Arnold, who has directed 20 past ACT I productions, including 13, The Music Man, and Romeo and Juliet.
For more information or to register for the workshop, contact Steve at SArnoldIA@aol.com. Registration is on a first come first serve basis and will close no later than May 1. A maximum of eight participants will be accepted.
