News : If you see a stray animal, this is what to do

A reminder to citizens of Vinton: please do not bring in stray animals to the Vinton/Benton Co Animal Shelter yourself. If you find a stray, call animal control at 472-2337. In transporting strays there have been private citizens bitten and scratched that required medical attention. Even a seemingly nice cat/dog can get scared and bite/scratch. Animal control is trained in the proper procedures that keeps the animal and people safe. Even if someone is at the shelter please keep in mind that they could be with the volunteer cleaning crew that is not authorized nor trained to do animal intake and are restricted by policy and insurance purposes from doing so.
