News : Many sponsors, volunteers make annual Third Grade Ag Day a success

Ag Day allows children a close-up look at farm animals.

Several hundred area third grade students learned a variety of farm-based lessons during the Third Grade Ag Day on Wednesday, April 27.

The sponsor and participants include: Benton County Farm Bureau, Vinton Shellsburg FFA, Benton County ISU Extension, Benton County Beef, Pork and Dairy Producers, Benton County Fair Board, East Central Iowa REC, Benton County Conservation, Benton County 4-H, all the Benton County Schools and Stan Geiken, Duane Fisher, Ruth Schafbuch (the event leadership team).

"It was a great experience for over 290 third graders & their teachers from all of Benton County. It could not of happened without the support and cooperative effort of them all," said Greg Walston of the Extension office..
