Several ACT 1 veterans from Vinton, as well as Center Point and Cedar Rapids, will join some newcomers in performing "Plaza Suite" this weekend and next wekend. Halane Cummings, a CPU teacher, directs.
The Neil Simon Play tells the story of Suite 719, and three different (but totally unrelated) couples who face significant relationship issues in that suite. The play is set in the lat 1960s.
The actors have been participating in dress rehearsals in preparation for the show's opening night on Friday. Show times are 7 p.m. on Friday May 13 and Saturday May 14, and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15. The schedule repeats next weekend, with 7 p.m. shows on May 20 and 21, and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, May 22.
In Act 1, a married couple faces new challenges about their future, and they even have trouble agreeing on their wedding date. In Act 2, old flames are reaquainted as they discuss the changes in their lives and careers over the previous 17 years. In ACT 3, a bride barricades herself in the bathroom as her anxious parents struggle to understand why marriage has her so scared. See the ACT 1 page HERE.
