There are reports circulating area newsrooms that Virginia Gay Hospital & Clinics is closed and transferring patients to other facilities. This information is not correct. Virginia Gay Hospital & Clinics is open and meeting the needs of our patients.

The storm yesterday did cause damage to our facility. One inpatient room was damaged due to a brick smokestack being blown off of the roof and into the adjacent building. The only areas that remain affected by the storm damage are the one inpatient room and our dialysis unit. The dialysis unit also sustained damage to the roof above it and will be closed until further notice. Again, the hospital and clinics are open to treat patients.

The hospital staff continues to treat patients in the acute inpatient area, emergency room, outpatient clinics, lab, radiology and other clinical outpatient areas. Even though a majority of our staff sustained personal losses at their homes, their dedication to our patients care remained paramount and they are here serving our patient population.
