The trial for Luke Truesdell, Marion, who was charged in the beating death of four people in Linn County last June has been postponed.
Truesdell was charged with four couts of first degree murder in the deaths of Amanda Parker of Vinton, Romondus Cooper and Keonna Ryan of Cedar Rapids and Brent Brown of Marion.
Truesdell's lawyers are asking the judge to throw out his confession made to detectives. When law enforcement arrived to the scene, Truesdell was found sitting on the sidewalk at East Otter Road where he'd admitted to attacking the victims by hitting them. His attorneys say that because Truesdell wasn't read his Miranda Rights, the confession should not be used in the trial. The Linn County Attorney's Office said that Truesdell wasn't under arrest at the time of the confession, so it wasn't necessary for the detectives to read him his rights.
Attorney's for Truesdell also attempted unsuccessfully to move the trail out of Linn County.
The case is now scheduled to be heard in November of 2025.
