The former principal at Tilford Elementary moved on to be the superintendent at the Humbolt Community School District. However, the Humbolt Independent reported, "The Humboldt Community School District Board of Directors officially approved the retirement request of long-time Superintendent Jim Murray at their meeting on Dec. 15.
He said, “I’m looking forward to it. My wife’s been retired now since this year, and I think we’re looking forward to spending some time with our kids.”
Murray is set to retire at the end of this year after serving as Superintendent for five years in the district. His leadership has led to the completion of multiple projects and school improvement initiatives, including the newly completed renovation of the R. Wesley Carlson Auditorium.
He said, “I think this is going to be an attractive job. I really do. We’re in a good spot here. So if it’s attractive for somebody who wants to work in a rural district, you know that’s what makes us a little bit different – is we aren’t down in the metro area and we aren’t in the Linn Marr corridor over there. So it’s got to be somebody who understands rural school districts and wants to a part of rural school districts.”"
Earlier this year, it was reported that Humboldt Superintendent Jim Murray had been Accused of Covering Up Teacher’s Abuse. Click the blue font to read the story in the link above.
